With the latest snow fall, we would like to remind residents to make sure fire hydrants are shoveled out and clear of snow and ice.
In the event of a fire, precious time is lost when firefighters have to locate and then shovel out fire hydrants be-fore hooking up to them.
Please consider helping a neighbor with a medical condition or one who is elderly, by shoveling out a hydrant in front of their home. Your kindness will benefit the entire neighborhood.
Ideally, Firefighters need a 3-foot circle around the hydrant. And while shoveling, remember safety: do not stand in the street and be careful not to slip and fall into the roadway.
With more than 2,000 hydrants in the system, everyone’s help in maintaining clear access to hydrants is greatly appreciated!
