WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR

The Utility has a full-time opening in the operations department at its surface water treatment facility.  The Operator performs water treatment and pumping on assigned shifts, monitors raw and finished water quality, adjusts chemical feed systems and pumps, maintains detailed records, performs laboratory testing, maintenance, and generally performs duties necessary for the safe and efficient production of drinking water.   

Ideal candidate would have good mechanical aptitude, basic chemistry and micro-biology knowledge, education and/or experience in water treatment, and ability to work alone on shifts.  Candidate should have excellent decision making skills, dedication to safe work practices, and a strong commitment to public health.

The Operator must obtain and maintain WDNR Surface Water Certification within six (6) months of employment.  Strong preference given to candidates with existing certification, associate’s degree, and/or water treatment experience, including plumbing or other mechanical work.  The Utility is willing to train outstanding candidates committed to serving the community.  Candidate must possess a valid WI Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. 

The Utility offers an excellent benefit package including the WI Retirement system, comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance.  Starting hourly wage is $24-24.65 depending on experience.  Address resume and detailed letter of interest to hr@sheboyganwater.org before November 6, 2015.
