Water service lines, the underground pipe running from the main in the road into your home, in Sheboygan are buried anywhere from 4 feet to 6 feet. Last winter we saw frost depths nearing 5 feet causing some water service lines to freeze. Thankfully, frost depths are not nearly that deep starting out 2015.
According to the National Weather Service, frost depth in Sheboygan under natural grassy areas is 7" deep. Under snow free pavement frost depth is 17".
As the winter lingers on, monitor the frost depth and winter conditions by visiting SheboyganWater.org and by following Sheboygan Water on Twitter and Facebook.
