The Sheboygan Water Utility has the following Job Opening:
The engineer works in all facets of public water distribution systems including water storage tanks, and is responsible for developing short and long term plans and specifications to extend and/or replace water mains. Engineer collects and maintains numerous records and field data critical for the efficient operation and maintenance of the system. Engineer produces plan and profile design drawings conforming to current standards of practice.
Engineer manages both contracted water main construction and in-house construction projects. Work includes production of drawings and project manuals, staking and inspection coordination, and project close-out.
Engineer provides cost estimates, procures materials, performs public improvement assessments. Engineer communicates with plumbers, design consultants, Utility customers, Utility and city staff members. Engineer works to evaluate improvements to the water distribution system.
Must operate CAD/GIS software and other equipment including total survey station and GPS survey equipment. Position requires a valid WI driver's license. Engineer has standby duty which includes approximately three weeks of after-hours on-call time per year. Requires a degree in civil engineering from an accredited university and ability to obtain P.E. within two years.
