Water Distribution Technician
The Sheboygan Water Utility seeks an experienced individual to work in construction and maintenance of its water distribution system. The work involves construction, maintenance and repair of water mains, fire hydrants, and street valves along with maintenance of various mechanical equipment including pumps, HVAC, meters, buildings and grounds, storage tanks, and other equipment and facilities used in water treatment and distribution. The work also involves loading, inventory, clearing snow, surveying, inspecting, and cleanup.
A strong candidate will have experience with heavy construction and trenching in roadways, involving underground utilities, along with use of air compressors, tapping machines, trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, skid-steers, and rubber-tired excavators. Candidate must have strong communication skills, and ability to work safely under stressful conditions and in poor weather conditions.
A high school diploma or GED is required. Additional construction or mechanical training is desirable. Candidate must have a valid WI driver’s license, with CDL being desirable.
The Utility offers a competitive benefit package including WI retirement system, vacation and sick leave, comp time, health insurance, and WI deferred compensation.
